Feeling Safe: Young People Wellbeing and the Arts -
Oxfordshire CEP
Project Type
Wellbeing-Focussed Evaluation / Creative Careers
Date
2021 - 2023
Organisation
Oxfordshire Cultural Education Partnership (CEP)
This 2 year wellbeing-focused project engaged 38 schools and 36 arts organisations/artists across Oxfordshire which included Museum of Oxford, Modern Art Oxford, Oxford Opera, Oxford Playhouse and The Story Museum.

The project also aimed to educate young people on career routes within the creative industries and inspire them to pursue creative subject choices.
As project Evaluator my role was to:
- Design a methodology to measure the impact of engaging in cross-arts sessions on young participants’ wellbeing, including their resilience and confidence

- Collect evaluation from teachers and artists who took part in order to gage how involvement impacted their networks, CPD, and confidence
- Advise on the best wellbeing scales to use
- Devise a means of collecting qualitative evaluation (this used The Storytelling Methodology and took inspiration from the Most Significant Change Methodology)
- Create a Theory of Change at the project start
- Produce an Evaluation Toolkit
- Deliver training to support session leaders to carry out their evaluation
- Produce a mid-way report for local authority funders
- Facilitate evaluation exercises for Young People at a Creative Careers Day and evaluate the success of the event and its impact on young people’s future subject choices/career interests
- Produce a Project Overview (top-line report)
- Produce a final report for the CEP
- Co-write the final project report for funders, Artswork

I was also asked to deliver a training session for the project funders, Artswork, in which I shared my methodology with other CEPs across the UK.
